Health Concerns present their own problems when trying to get back in shape.  In fact, those same health concerns are often the reason that we get out of shape in the first place.  Learning to implement an exercise program when our joints hurt, or we lack mobility, takes some specialized knowledge.

Frequently however, with a little effort, extra care and the right knowledge, our attempts to change our daily habits can lead to significant improvements in our overall health.  Painful conditions often improve when appropriately exercised and protected.

Do read the disclaimer before attempting to act on any information on this site, especially if you have an existing health condition, as this information may not be appropriate for you or your condition.  Our information is for informational purposes only and is in no way to be considered medical or health advice.  As with any new exercise or diet program, you should consult your doctor or health care provider before you begin.

Generally, if you have a health condition, you will need specific healthcare monitoring and recommendations from your health care provider.  Skin care, breathing, heart rate or blood sugar monitoring are topics that may be important for you to discuss with your doctor when you begin a new exercise program, depending on your condition.

Be sure to review the sections on Warning Signs and General Precautions.

  • Our Arthritis section has links to the Arthritis Foundations exercise programs that are geared to proper exercise for those with Arthritis.
  • Our Neck & Back Pain sections have references to the types of exercise programs that emphasize body awareness and gentle movements to ease pain.  We also have links to practitioners and pain relief supplies that may assist you.
  • Our section on Obesity recognizes that you will need professional help to reach your weight loss goals.  Because of the important health implications of being obese,  the greater the role your healthcare providers will take in helping you get back in shape.

We are currently updating our other health concern sections to bring you new information to get in shape and stay in shape.
